When I met with Jules to discuss the commission , a portrait of my son from a photo of him when he was young, Jules listened intently to my description of the work I wanted done and how I wanted the essence of my son captured. With input from me and Jules’ expert eye for detail , a masterpiece displayed at an emotional unveiling. Jules has a gift for bringing a photograph to life in her works of art. I wouldn’t hesitate to engage with Jules for another commission.

Jules’ portraits capture the essence of a person. She creates paintings of people that make you stop because they create an immediate emotional reaction. Her portraits pull you in and you want to learn more about the people she’s painted. Her style is realistic and loose - which isn’t a contradiction in her works.
— Andrea Eichelberg, Germany
We asked Jules to bring back a very special day for us- our two young boys serving at my sister’s wedding 30 years ago and we could not be happier with the portrait she created. It perfectly captures the excitement and pride in our boys faces and the wonderful time we had that day. Every time I walk by our treasured painting I smile to myself.
— Robin Garvey, Ottawa
I loved the portrait Jules did for me! It captured my personality and I still can look at it and know what I was thinking at that very moment because she captured it. Thank you Jules!

  • Jules Crowley will paint a contemporary acrylic portrait on canvas of your chosen human subject. Portraits are painted in a loose abstracted style with focus on flat planes of colour, minimal backgrounds, and the intention of capturing the ‘spark’ of the sitter.

Please read the commission agreement carefully before proceeding.

Commission timeline depends on workload, and can range from 2-6 weeks to completion.

Once you’ve purchased, Jules will email you to request photos of your chosen subject. A good working process would include sending 3-5 images that Jules could choose from to paint. Pictures must be clear and have good colour.

  • The artist would like to paint something that you will love and cherish. That said, the artist can only paint the vision she sees in her head, and what comes of her brush. The artist is not able to paint the vision that you have in your head. Clients and artists enter the commission process knowing that the end result will be the best effort by the artist to represent the likeness of the subject, according to the artist’s style and technical ability. Entering into a commission agreement means the client agrees to accept the finished product as it is presented to them, and that it is the client’s responsibility to determine first if this artist is the right one to commission for the job. Revisions, edits or suggestions will not be accepted following completion, and each commission is final sale.
